KUALA LUMPUR, 27 JUNE 2019 – Yayasan MRCB has contributed RM231,000 to help implement a one-year meal programme for 384 underprivileged students from 12 schools in several states in Malaysia. In addition, Yayasan MRCB also donated scientific calculators and books worth RM60,000 to 600 disadvantaged students from six schools in Kuala Lumpur.
Datin Jasmine Abdullah Heng, Chairperson of Yayasan MRCB presented the contributions at SMK La Salle Brickfields in the presence of Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, Member of Parliament of Lembah Pantai. The ceremony was attended by 200 students along with Yayasan MRCB Trustees – Datuk Shamrat Sen Gupta, Dr. Mohamed Rafick Khan Abdul Rahman and Encik Jamaludin Zakaria.
The one-year meal programme will benefit underprivileged students from 12 schools namely SK Pengkalan Jaya and SK Kuala Perai in Butterworth, Penang; SK Seri Iskandar Perdana in Bandar Seri Iskandar, Perak; SK Setia Budi in Batu Pahat , Johore; SMK La Salle Brickfields, SK La Salle Brickfields and SJK (T) Vivekananda in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur; SK Seri Bonus and SK Padang Tembak 1 in Semarak, Kuala Lumpur; SK Seksyen 7 Kota Damansara in Kota Damansara, Selangor; SMK Bukit Kajang in Kajang, Selangor and SMK Bandar Sungai Buloh in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
The donation of calculators and books will also benefit 600 underprivileged students from six schools in Kuala Lumpur namely SMK La Salle Brickfields, SMK Bangsar (Integrasi), SMK Petaling, SMK Bukit Bandaraya, SMK (P) Methodist and SMK Seri Pantai.
“Yayasan MRCB’s contribution towards the one-year meal programme aims to provide lunch boxes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who cannot afford to purchase food at their school canteens. The donation of calculators and books will assist to equip underprivileged students with the right tools to help them learn and improve their academic performance”, said Datin Jasmine Abdullah Heng.
She added, “At Yayasan MRCB, we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed, and we encourage others to join in and help those in need. We have been actively involved in educational and infrastructural improvements of schools as these form Yayasan MRCB’s core objectives and will continue to roll out more activities in the coming months”.
